The 6 best things to do in Chingford

Epping Forest- Chingford

Here at Dolphin Windows, we’re lucky to be based in the London district of Chingford. This puts us in a fantastic position to bring our home improvements to North London, Essex and beyond. Being only 10 miles from central London makes Chingford the perfect place to get the most out of city and country living. If you’re ever down this way we’ve compiled a handy list of the top things you can do in and around Chingford.

Epping Forest

This beautiful ancient woodland is a perfect way of getting back to nature without travelling out of the city. With over 6000 acres; this popular walking spot is a Site of Special Scientific Interest as well as conservation. When Queen Victoria visited, she declared it to be the ‘People’s Forest’. It became dedicated for the use and enjoyment of the public for ever.

Lee Valley White Water Centre

Just down the road in Waltham Cross is the Lee Valley White Water Centre. Built to host the London 2012 Olympic canoe slalom events; it’s now open to the public. Enjoy canoeing or white-water rafting around this award-winning site.

King George V Reservoir

Part of the Lee Valley reservoirs which provide London’s drinking water, this reservoir is popular with birdwatchers. Many nationally important bird species spend the winter here and the King George sailing club is based here.

Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge

This hunting lodge is sat on the edge of Epping Forest and is a classic example of a timber Tudor building. Built on the orders of Henry VIII, this free museum is spread across three floors. Learn about Tudor cuisine, fashion and find out why the Tudor hunt was so popular.

Pole Hill

For those who like a walk with a view, Pole Hill gives stunning views across most of London. It has played an important part in astronomical history as lies directly on the Greenwich meridian. As it’s visible from Greenwich it was once used by geographers to find the direction of true north.

For the thrill seekers amongst you, Altitude Adventure has loads to do for the whole family. They have a sky trail high ropes course for all ages.
